What are the steps to follow when enrolling my child?
• Remember, Summerhill only accepts children under 12 years of age !
• Also, Summerhill will only enroll students who want to enroll. It is the child’s
as well as the parents’ decision
• It really is a good idea to read through the Web Site in detail.
• Parents are strongly advised to read the new book due May 10th 2006. 'Summerhill & A.S.Neill'
, edited by Mark Vaughan OBE with chapters by A.S.Neill, Zoë Neill Readhead, Professor Ian
Stronach and Tim Brighouse. Published by the Open University Press
• Visit the school. Call the office to find out the days set aside for Visitors and Prospective
Parents. You will be given a guided tour, have lunch in the dining room with a Houseparent, see
a child’s accommodation, attend a Summerhill Meeting and have a chance to chat with a Curriculum
Advisor and teachers as well as the headmaster, Zoe Readhead.
• Call the office and request our mail out which includes: Background Questionnaire, Application
Form, Fees List, Terms and Conditions and a School Prospectus.
• Once you return the necessary forms, Summerhill will then review your application and
hopefully your child will become a new Summerhillian!
